Gird up your Judys

This past weekend, I attended Church near Stanford and was very amused to see the cover of the program.  It included a verse about the Shield of Faith, which of course, had to mention loins, and it included this picture.  For the record, it was Xeroxed in Black and white, so not everything was as crisp as the photo I attach for you here:

You may notice that this is Copywrighted by Judy Cooley.  But on the program, the only visible word was “Judy” visible… across the brave warrior’s “loins”.  Why there, of all places?  But since it is, can you think of a better euphemism in the future?  My friend, Randy, thought so, commenting that he was getting a little uncomfortable in Sunday School when they kept talking about loins and would have really felt more spiritual if the teacher would have just told the congregation to “Gird up your Judys“.

I like the juxtaposition of someone named “Randy” girding up their “Judys.”

This might be reason to call for the resignation of the sacrament meeting program coordinator! Maybe they were looking for a reason to step down.

I don’t know how anyone could have missed that fact that Judy had called dibs on the whole armor of God. I mean, she wrote her whole blummin name on the thing right across the loins of truth or whatever.
