LeMare’s Tacky Superbowl Party

February 2, 2009 at 1:47 am 13 comments

It only comes but once a year.  Every other time in my home, I try to offer delicious and tasteful food.  But on Superbowl Sunday, there is no tolerance for class.  Tasty, but NEVER tasteful.  That’s right, this year was my 2nd Annual Tacky Superbowl Party, and we outdid ourselves, and the improvements were more than just my TV!

How do you THROW a tacky superbowl party?

Start with balloons.  Add a couple mylar, if possible.  Crepe paper also decked every doorway, naturally.

Everyone loves the mylar

Everyone loves the mylar

On the menu?  Bacon flavored easy cheese.  Bagel Bites.  Jose Ole Mini Tacos.  Mini Corndogs (one guest said “they went down so smooth”).  And the piece de resistance?  A guacamole dip football stadium.  It was something special

So tacky, we could afford Hebrew National upgrade

Thematic M&Ms? Check. Football chip bowl? check, check.

Not gonna lie. Bagel bites stole the show

Jose Ole has NEVER let me down.

piece de resistance? Guacamole Football Statdium.

Yes, you see that right, there IS a twinkie on his plate.

Yes, you see that right, there IS a twinkie on his plate.

Has there ever been a plate, in the history of time, that has the same items on it?  Bagel bite, meatballs, velveeta/chili dip, pig in a blanket, 7-layer brownie, and, naturally, a twinkie.  The man holding this plate was the eating MVP, BY FAR.  He declared this to be one of his Top 10 Nights EVER.  He also said, “If I die tonight, please know that I die a happy man.”

You should probably be buying flights to San Francisco for my party next year.  It’ll be a fête.

I think I’m going to be sick.

But way to take a GI hit for the theme. That’s commitment.

Now, I just have to ask. What were you wearing? Photos, please.

Mel, unfortunately I did not carry the tacky theme to my attire. Paige jeans and the Jcrew Fiona jacket (of which you own, do you not?) are not photo-worthy. Next year, though. I’m minutes away from ordering myself a proper Bear’s jersey… It WILL be worn next year.

La piece de resistance, c’est formidable.

Now bacon flavored easy cheese may have been going over the top, but since you lived to tell about it, it can’t be that bad.

Did you pass out tubs of TUMS after the game?

I didn’t have any bacon-flavored Easy Cheese, but the man who requested it, did live to tell. I sent him home with the twinkie walls.

The all-star eater (who achieved one of his Top 10 nights ever) did request a tums on the way out 🙂

You should go into Super Bowl Party Planning as a career. Our party was clearly second rate compared to yours.

Pigs in a blanket are too delicious to be tacky.

We ate buffalo hot dogs. They were awesome.

Tackiness and questionable food choices aside, I believe I see MEN (hopefully single?) in those photos enjoying the evening. What’s going on there?

Oh Pammy, forgive us for our 2:1 ratio. We promise we invited just as many girls… I suppose they weren’t seduced by Easy Cheese and Football the same way the men were…
